One of my friends told me about the Sony Docking System the other day. What had us interested were the expansion modules that are sold separately which allow music to be sent to multiple locations. This would therefore give iphone/ipod users the ability to send their tunes to multiple locations very easily such as when entertaining. The following is a short review of what we found.
Potential Expansion – Wireless Speakers
The Sony Docking System allows the Ipod/Iphone to transmit music wireless to other locations. This is accomplished via “S-Air” client speakers that are sold separately. These portable travel speakers can accommodate 8 additional units allowing for wireless surround sound. The sound quality is impressive with little to no static noise.
Wireless Bass Sound
The Sony Docking System comes with a dock for Ipods and Iphones. It allows for music playback and charging simultaneously. There is an included wireless subwoofer that gives these speakers additional base not found in your typical portable speaker. We were surprised at the difference this feature made, especially when the subwoofer was placed on the floor. This does improve sound quality though it makes the speakers a bit more bulky than regular portable speakers.
These aren’t the smallest portable speakers on the market, however, the separate subwoofer does give superior sound and allow for better positioning on the floor. The included remote control has great range and a number of functions. This model does not have a foldable dock, the dock is located in front of the speakers.
These stereo speakers are good for those interested in expanding their music to other rooms when entertaining guests. It is pretty economical when compared to other more expensive models from Bose. The sound quality is clear and it offers respectable bass. We recommend this portable sound system.
